Can I send emails to anyone to promote my
web site?
The answer is very
simple:NO! Sending out unsolicited
emails is absolutely prohibited. An
unsolicited email, also known as "spam" is
any email sent to an unknown third party who
has not requested such information. Please
familiarize yourself with our Email Acceptable Usage
Policies.
Spamming has become a
rampant problem on the Internet. At first
glance, it appears no different than the junk
mail that annoyingly fills our physical
mailboxes. But there are some distinct
differences. Unlike with junk mail, where the
sender has to pay the cost of the mailing (by
paying postage), the cost of spam is paid by
the user, the network providers, ISPs. Some
of these costs are the extra routers, network
capacity and disk storage space needed by
internet services to transmit, receive and
store these messages. In fact, large
providers such as AOL spend millions of
dollars in extra disk storage to hold all the
extra junk email messages. AOL and all other
Internet service providers are passing on
these costs to the end user by increasing
fees or reducing "free" options and
converting them to fee based services.
Each spam message also adds
to the traffic on the Internet, or in more
technical terms, takes up bandwidth. Because
there is so much spam being sent, it fills up
and chokes up the internet communication
channels. Spam is one of the main causes of
Internet delays
